Filler Feature – Juvederm Voluma XC®
With the popularity of Facial Fillers and Injections on the rise, it can be a difficult task to distinguish between the available brands and substances. One recently approved filler for the cheeks has been rapidly gaining in popularity, and Dr. Waldman explains why it’s the next big thing.
What is Voluma?
Juvéderm Voluma XC®, known as Voluma for short, is the newest approved filler on the market. It is the first and only injectable gel to be approved by the FDA for use in the cheek area. As people age the cheeks begin to lose volume and can sag, causing them to look tired and lifeless. Voluma contours and lifts the “apples” of the cheek in order to restore a youthful, vibrant appearance. It is part of the Juvéderm line of fillers also used to treat the mouth and smile areas of the face, manufactured by the makers of BOTOX® Cosmetic.
What makes Voluma special?

Never had fillers before?

Based on the look you desire, they can recommend which filler would be right for the areas and problems you’re looking to address. If you’re ready to go, the doctor can proceed with the treatment that day. Otherwise, we can schedule you an appointment to come back in for treatment.
To begin the treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the area. This eases almost all discomfort, and some people even decide not to be numbed. The doctor then injects the treatment into the area. Some fillers are mixed in the syringe with Lidocane, which allows for extra comfort. We will then give you an ice pack to hold on the area to reduce swelling and eliminate discomfort.
After the treatment you may experience some bruising, swelling, or tenderness in the area of the injection. This should go away in just a few days, leaving you with a younger and fuller face!
