Are implants sometimes used with a breast lift procedure?

Yes, we use both saline and silicone implants when necessary to provide more breast volume and fullness in the upper aspect of the breast. A breast lift alone may not achieve the desired look, so we can combine a breast augmentation and lift to provide increased fullness and a perkier aesthetic.

How is a breast lift performed?

The design of the incisions can vary, but usually include incisions around the nipple-areolar complex and in the crease under the breast. Other incision techniques may include a vertical lift “lollipop” or a full lift “anchor type.” The nipple-areolar complex is repositioned higher, the excess skin is removed, and the breast is reshaped in a pleasing contour and in a more normal position. The goal is using good quality, well hidden scars to create significant improvement in the shape of your breasts.

How long is the recovery process after a breast lift with implants?

The patient will go home in a bra with only light dressings over the incision lines and will wear it for about 4 weeks. Sutures will dissolve within a few weeks after surgery. Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication. A patient can start light activity in 7-10 days.

Where are breast lift operations performed?

Dr. Schantz and Dr. Turner perform most mastopexy operations as outpatient procedures in our fully-accredited in office surgical facility using local anesthesia and intravenous sedation.
